About this site

I wish I had a time machine, also a Babel Fish (it translates every language). I would have to change gender, since patriarchy was so strong in the far past, but I could pretend for a while. I would then travel back in time to the countries, regions and societies that have created the history, mystery, facts and fiction in the Christian Bible, and check my facts. I have a lot of questions, and many comments. And I have a list of ‘books’ from the Bible that I think need to either be reviewed or removed. Wander with me as I stroll through the Book that created Christianity, its all its wonder and confusion.

Love & Peace

    The Mystery of God’s Books

September 30, 2011 by Ama Nazra

    Hello Ama:

Reading one of your old post and found more questions; just what I need for my WordPress page of ( Questions ) and ( Answers ) and as I find time to work on them I will try to post answers or some scripture for these and some others.

I have also been busy some with the “Christmas” season and some with a new project. I have been researching the ” Dead Sea Scrolls ” I have read the book of “Enoch” and I am currently reading “Jubilees.” There is some new information or history in these that is not recorded in “Genisis.” There was a record of man taking wives of their sisters and also their cousins.

    Check this out from:
The Dead Sea Scrolls: LINK: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Sea_Scrolls

    The Book of Jubilees

Cain and Abel (iv. 1-12; cf. Gen. iv.).

IV. And in the third week in the second jubilee she gave birth to Cain, and in the fourth she gave birth to Abel, and in the fifth she gave birth to her daughter
’Âwân. 2. And in the first (year) of the third jubilee, Cain slew Abel because (God) accepted the sacrifice of Abel, and did not accept the offering of Cain. 3. And he slew him in the field: and his blood cried from the ground to heaven, complaining because he had slain him. 4. And the Lord reproved Cain because of Abel, because he had slain him, and he made him a fugitive on the earth because of the blood of his brother, and he cursed him upon the earth. 5. And on this account it is written on the heavenly tables, “Cursed is he who smiteth his neighbour treacherously, and let all who have seen and heard say, So be it; and the man who hath seen and not declared (it), let him be accursed as the other.” 6. And for this reason we announce when we come before the Lord our God all the sin which is committed in heaven and on earth, and in light and in darkness, and everywhere. 7. And Adam and his wife mourned for Abel four weeks of years, and in the fourth year of the fifth week they became joyful, and Adam knew his wife again, and she bare him a son, and he called his name Seth; for he said “God hath raised up a second seed unto us on the earth instead of Abel; for Cain slew him.” 8. And in the sixth week he
begat his daughter ’Azûrâ. 9. And Cain took ’Âwân his sister to be his wife and she bare him Enoch at the close of the fourth jubilee. And in the first year of the first week of the fifth jubilee, houses were built on the earth, and Cain built a city, and called its name after the name of his son Enoch. 10. And Adam knew Eve his wife and she bare yet nine sons. 11. And in the fifth week of the fifth jubilee Seth took ’Azûrâ his sister to be his wife, and in the fourth (year of the sixth week) she bare him Enos. 12. He began to call on the name of the Lord on the earth.

Tell me this how old was Seth; and how old was ‘Azura when they became husband and wife??

I hope this answers some of those ???? . We just do not have enough scripture or history to answer all of those questions which we could ask. I just try to accept that what I have will have to do and accept by faith like Abraham that what God reveales to me is the TRUTH.

    Thank God for those who believe and agree;

    God bless for now: Stephen

      Hello Stephen,

I just finished exploring Job, and will write that up next week .. and then I’ll get onto Jubilee. I already have questions. LOL

Thank you for the link to the Dead Sea Scrolls. I also have them in translation in various books here on my shelves. I went and looked at your site. You copied me verbatim, which is fine, since the world can see it too, but .. I would have asked you first if it had been me. And .. I was going to edit that page, but it can stay the same now I suppose. 🙂

Thank you for the comments from Jubilee but it doesn’t really answer questions, because we (think we) know it was written about 1200 years after Genesis, so its an ‘add-on’ to the knowledge, or certainly appears to be, since I have only just glanced at it. It is also not ‘canon’, and I am working within that limitation at the moment. The average person will read the bible, maybe, but might not touch on books that are outside its covers when something does not make sense to them.

Seth having children with his sister is a real worry, given what we know about genetics these days. I am sure God considered that, or maybe, in his omnipotence it never occurred to him that too much interbreeding leads to birth deformities? As for their age, if its possible, we might work it out. I have never considered the question.

I am glad you can be so accepting, and that is not meant unkindly. I sometimes wish I was, but since I have not been my entire life, I can’t see it starting now. To me God makes sense, is logical, often unexplainable, but certainly wise enough to know the simple things, like how He created us, and how we were supposed to create more of the same beings after He started us off without problem genetics or having to come along later and ban incest .. and it was a lot later.

I also thank God for those who don’t agree too .. LOL We inspire others to seek their own answers, or hope we do.

      It’s all fascinating,
      Love & Peace
      Ama
